Unfortunately I have not got any your opinion on my idea to problem of a number of cars. But you and I do not want to wear gas masks and to collect pieces of oil from Ocean’s surface I think! And we will not be glad if, for example, climate of Europe is transformed. Again I want to pay your attention to problem of a number of cars. We can get interesting effects after the sharp increase in taxes on fuel at petrol stations in the metropolitan area and the adjoining 15-25-kilometer zone around any major city. It could be 2-5 - fold increase in fuel prices within this zone, for example, during the autumn - winter road ice and snow, which involve substantial demolition of roadway and improvement of road accidents. Or increase the price of fuel may be used, for example, on Monday and Friday as in the days of maximum autotraffic. Or other options are that could be called "urban environmental tax on fuel”. Bigger city - more taxes! Some effects: 1.Budgets of many cities and countries will have more revenue. 2.General transport in cities with such a tax could be reduced amount to about 30% of the total fleet of cars at the expense of the old models which have high fuel consumption and large sizes. 3.Electric and hybrid cars will be more. 4.City ecology will be improved. 5.Reduction of needs for fuel will make stabile oil prices. Etc. The idea has been publish in Russia in 2008, etc. In my opinion there is a need to discuss economical aspects of this idea, too. And my letters have been sent to the World Economic Forum 2010, Climate Change Conference 2009 in Copenhagen, Greenpeace, to countries of ES, I have already offered to discuss this idea ipcc-sec@wmo.int , lots newspapers, www.rsf.org, etc., etc. Unfortunately, for example, the World Economic Forum has not any interests for the idea. But you can argue a lot about speeds of melting of glaciers of the Himalayas and Poles. However they will melt like ice of Kilimanjaro. They will melt from explanations. And there is my experience of investigating of the other ideas to make maximal efforts now. Lienee sanomattakin selvää, kenelle ääneni eu-vaaleissa annoin, ikävä kuitenkin, ettei Pasi päässyt läpi =( Itse yritän vaikuttaa kaupunkini teklassa jätehuolto-juttuihin sekä kaavoitusasioihin, mutta välillä kaikki tuntuu ihan turhalta räpeltämiseltä vaan... Ahaa, nyt vasta löysin tämänkin kirjoituksen =)
